The annual Border Dinner was held on the 13th of January 2024 at the Old Selbornian Club in their newly renovated Centenary Room, attended by 110 people. The evening was arranged by Border Vice President Mr Fred Darke with help from his daughter and son in law.

Border Bowls was lucky enought to have Bowls South Africa President Ms Heather Boucher and her husband Verdon in attendance. The guest speaker well known labour attorney was Mr Craig Kirchmann.
Mr Kirchmann spoke on the importance of embracing changing social dynamics in order to retain the viability of the clubs, regardless of their sporting code, In time when clubs’ leases have yet to be renewed, he stressed that constructive engagement was paramount.
In his address, Border President David Minnie, pointed out that, in a team scenario, it is not always best for the group that the most accomplished player is selected when a person slightly less skilled is the “right” choice.

Certificates were handed out to the winners of the various district tournaments and league winning clubs.

The evening culminated with the trophy presentation to the Victor and Victrix Ludorum for 2023.
Victrix Ludorum was a joint family affair, won by Charmaine Comerasamy and her sister Ingrid Jessop, both from East London Bowling Club.
Victor Ludorum was deservedly won by Chad Dawson from Typos Bowling Club.
The evening ended at around 1.30am when the stragglers were politely ejected from the premises by the very patient management of the host club.
Many thanks to all who attended and to Old Selbornian Club for hosting us so graciously. Now on to 2024!
